When support bands aren't.

Just read tonight that Metric are supporting The Rolling Stones at Madison Sq. this week! That's awesome for them but makes me think... they'll blow the Stones away, no? There were stories recently of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah touring with The National as a support band and after a few nights they had to reverse the order...ouch!
I remember the very first time I saw The Flaming Lips they were supporting someone...I can't think who now...exactly, they caught me totally by surprise.
Ever seen that happen when the support...er..renegaded on their job?

Of a few I can remember, the most memorable was INXS on their Kick Tour at MetCenter. The band Steel Pulse opened, and I seriously think they should have swapped the order. Steel Pulse had a wonderful energy . . . it made INXS a bit of a yawn.

We're going to see Nick Cave in a couple of weeks---when I inquired at the box office if there would be an opening act, they said that they thought so, but they weren't sure, but most of the time there is---? a bit vague, so I'm curious. Can't wait for the concert; but I am curious as to if/who the support will be.

actually i don't think that is true about Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Mark... if it was, it was only due to the attention they were getting, not because they were actually better. that made me sad that people were leaving before The National though, because they really missed out.

besides, if you've seen both bands, The National BLOW Clap Your Hands away live. CYHSY aren't that great of a live band at all to be perfectly honest, and people will get to see for themselves at the 400 on April 1st.
