random acts of kindness

I was Uptown today and this dude passing by plugged my meter before I got out of the car! Too cool whoever you are.
What's the last nice thing someone did for you?

Why, just today in Debenhams, a nice lady held onto a box of glass tumblers while I took down a big box of wine glasses (a gift for friends--they need 'em) from the shelves...

Someone did the exact same thing for me a couple of weeks ago.

Trouble was, it was the day after Thanksgiving, so the meters were free anyway!

But it was an extremely kind gesture nonetheless!

Shortly this thread was started, I had a person tell me that I was one of the best people they'd ever met.

When I lived in the Bay Area, my friends and I used to go to Berkeley or into "The City" and if we had spare change, we'd plug expired meters as we encountered them.

The city of Minneapolis graciously took around $2,000 a year from me in parking tickets every year for almost 10 years. (my employer did not provide parking) Where were you?
Now I live in New York City - alternate side parking rules control the schedule of thousands of us poor saps with cars on Manhattan. I consider it a good day if the nanny's don't curb their dogs on my tires.
