Out Of Step Sometimes, there are things that are hooj musically that we just don't get. Actually, being the weirdo that I am, I am quite often a bit behind the curve and things that tons of people respond to. Examples: Eminem (have since come to really enjoy his stuff), Pearl Jam's "Ten" (still don't like it, after all these years). This year's "I Just Don't Get It" award goes to: Tullycraft. Go ahead, shriek in disapproval, I know. I still play it, happily, because lots of people absolutely love it. But, that's music for ya: if we all liked the same thing, the world would stagnate and implode artistically. Anyway, that's my biggie for the year. Maybe by this time next year I'll be all over it! *F. starts handing out the pitchforks and torches to the gathering throng. Haybales are being trucked in outside the MPR studios. A general murmuring and grumbling is heard through the glass* Forget the "hooj" things you don't get-what about the things I like that you don't get? I mean, what's important, here? I want to know how to donate CDs...seriously. Luther, there's the difference between what I "don't get" and the station "doesn't have" ;) ... How to donate CDs? Drive down to the station and leave them at the front desk. As always, the disclaimer: The Current does not air home-burned CDs, only commercially available ones. [Auntie thanks Frick for the pitchfork and begins waving her torch menacingly toward the DJ booth] The music is catchy pop. The lyrics are clever and fun. Would I want to listen to them all day, every day? Nope! But I wouldn't want to eat cotton candy for every meal, either. Oh, great, I misunderstood. Fantastic. Way to make me look like a fool, Mr. Seel! But as for the donations, that's gonna happen. I'm going on a shopping spree and giving you people some good, good things. I mean, you don't have "Aeroplane Over the Sea!?" It's criminal. Now you're getting Voxtrot, NMH, early Of Montreal, Songs from Green Pheasant...a lot of good stuff. |
