This is scary!!

I'm not making this up...I played E.L.O. tonight, one of those whims. THEN I read the Cue and see the Halloween gig discussion, so I mention that on the air and Jeff calls and says;
E.L.O. were his first ever concert at the Civic Center, Halloween 1982!??! How weird is that? He said that Hall & Oates were the support and E.L.O. had to play a medley of their hits, they had so many! How many bands can, or want to do that any more?
I always liked medleys, a lost art or an abomination best left dead...whatd'yathink?

I like medleys...especially auntiesmedleys...hee hee! No, seriously, I dig E.L.O. (well, most of the stuff...I mean "Fire on High"...how cool is/was that?!) When I was a pre-teen, I was all about The Beatles and E.L.O., and got teased for it...okay, okay, Shaun Cassidy didn't do it for me...I mean, come on: "Da-Doo-Run-Run-Run"?? Be real!! Back to medleys; they can be cool, if done right. I don't like to hear only 1/4 of a track I really like; but if they do a nice blend; like Yes with "Roundabout" to "Starship Trouper" or "Long Distance Runaround" it works very well. My two pence; for what it's worth, at 5:14 in the morning, when one has insomnia. Cheers!

I was at that ELO show in 1982. I mostly remember this little robot coming out on stage and whirring around. It was the "Time" LP tour.

I don't remember them having to do a huge medley of hits, but I'm sure they did.

Hall and Oates were quite good. I at least got to see GE Smith play live which at the time was cool to me.

I'm not much of a fan of medleys as I'd like to hear the entire song. To me, medleys smack of playing Vegas. However, if you do have a huge log of hits, you have to try to please everybody and play at least a snippet each one.
