Only a few releases of music that we are playing today, most notably;
Silver Jews "Tanglewood Numbers"
Often referred to as a Pavement side project, behind the writing of David Berman they've really come into their own on the last two cd's and this has some great poetry in the lyrics and some fine guitar playing by Malkmus.
Tiefschwarz "eat books"
From Germany, the name means VERY black, but there's a lot of sunshine on this electronic workout. There's a vocal from Tracy Thorn and a few other guests, which gives it an inconsistant feel, but the last two instrumental tracks are some of the strongest.
The Beautiful New Born Children "hey people"
Gravenhurst "Fires in distant buildings"
The Ruts "Babylon's burning" is re-released, the only album they put out in '79, but perhaps with a new poignance?!
