Areya Dancing? Areya Askin?!?
Hmmm...could it be Francie and Josie...or The Two Ronnies? That would be "The Liver Birds." Actually I didn't really know that, but I do remember hearing that line used in a "Young Ones" episode. I figured they were referencing something else, so I googled around and voila: Rik: "Are you dancing?" Vyv: "Are you asking?" Rik: "Yes" Vyv: "Well, piss off!" Awwww....I lost it to Timm-O! Congrats, Timm-O! You know...this phrase is something I've heard often and from various sources over here~ does it truly originate from The Liver Birds? (pronounced Live (as in concert)r Birds...not the body's organ...FYI...) Hmmm...I do remember seeing some episodes of YO in my late teens...in altered states; so perhaps I should watch those YO dvd's my mates lent me a couple months ago....I've seen some of "The Liver Birds"....Molly Snugden (Mrs. Slocombe from Are You Being Served), right? Awwww....maybe I'll get a prize next time...although I shouldn't really have too strong a prize envy; mojo did, afterall, give me a blue, furry, adorable "Grover In The Box" a few days ago.....sigh. Hi I found your site looking for the answer to the quote "are you dancing?" I found a site shortly after yours that claims that the line is a Three stooges line from "Hoi Polloi" 1935 if this is true it pre dates liver birds by 30 years. Have fun god bless the Net :-) search the three stooges online archive for the article |
