A few new finds

here's a few interesting releases;

The Fiery Furnaces "Rehearsing my choir"
I have seen such wildly divergent reviews of this that i was insanely hyped to hear it especially as these guys were one of my fave musical crushes from the last two years...with that in mind I am going to come down on the positive side. I have a lot of time for spoken word delivery and good story telling and the musical background is simply elegant FF bawdybeat!

Rogue Wave "Descended like Vultures"

Tons of T.Rex re-issues and compilations if you need more!

"This Bird Has Flown" A compilation to celebrate the 40th Anniversary
of The Beatles "Rubber Soul" album, includes Sufjan Stevens, Low, The Donnas and Cowboy Junkies....and speaking of Beatles...

George Harrison's "Concert for Bangladesh" is being re-released and put on DVD, it was perhaps the first huge benefit gigs, and included a surprise appearance from Bob Dylan.

Breakestra "Hit the Floor"

Wow...I recently bought a T. Rex compilation at Woolworths for £3.00! Yeah, I saw in "Word" mag about the "Concert for Bangladesh" dvd....gonna pick it up after work today, I think. "This Bird Has Flown" sounds quite fantastic~ I'll have to get my hands on that--thanks for the recommendations!

I heard your set w/ Fiery Furnaces and although not completely my cup of tea, there was something compelling about it. You're right, the grandmother's voice did vacillate between being masculine and feminine which made for an interesting listen.

Thanks for playing Roadrunner too. It was great to hear just before taking off down the street to the Turf Club to see Jonathan R. Good show despite his being ill with a cold or something.

their Grandma sounds like Mike Meyers doing his Scottish accent.

personally i find the album to be quite bad, and really agreed w/ the review on Coke Machine Glow, even though i'm not a fan of that site usually.
