Well, faithful blog readers, I have some news. As you know, I promised when I started the web log that you would hear first. So, true to promises kept, I'm going to post some news about myself that won't be released to the media until Monday.
I have a new gig. I sought out, was offered, and have accepted a new position as Senior Vice President for Content and Media at Minnesota Public Radio and American Public Media. What this means is that I will be responsible for all regional programming broadcast by Minnesota Public Radio's 37-station network as well as all programming produced and distributed by American Public Media, the national production and distribution arm of Minnesota Public Radio. American Public Media produces and distributes more than 20 national programs including Marketplace, Speaking of Faith, Splendid Table, Weekend America and other popular public radio programs.
The search and interview process has been going on for five months, the offer happened late last week, and, after thinking about it over the week-end, I accepted. The announcement was made internally yesterday.
So why did I do this? Because I believe in our mission and in the difference we make to individuals and communities, because I see enormous opportunities for us to provide new public service programming and to extend our current programs in new ways with new technologies, and because, personally, I feel really ready for a new challenge. I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity and I can't wait to dive in.
And you read it here first.
Have a great weekend.
