« Cleaning up after a successful fund drive | 50 Songs for 50 States » Last day of the fiscal yearJune 30, 2005 Today was the last day of our fiscal year. This means that every outstanding invoice or bill for the year has to be prepared and approved. There was a flurry of activity all day as every budget manager checked and double checked that their invoices were in the electronic systems we use for accounting. If you're the division head, like me, that means you spent a lot of the day making sure that everything is completed by the end of the work day. Whew. This morning we had a group of female visitors at the station, so I helped put together a "Women of MPR" roundtable discussion with them. Four of our ace producers from News, The Current, Classical Music, and New Media chatted with our visitors about their work. It was really fun. The Current's staff will be surprising me along with everyone else when the 50 Songs for 50 States project hits the airwaves on Monday. They seem to have kept the song list completely secret from everyone, or so it appears to me. On the other hand it could be that not all the songs are picked yet, so please add your suggestions if you have some. Here's the link. I hope you have a festive 4th and that you have a chance to check out our special programming. Besides listening to the radio, I'm planning some gardening, a little sailing, and maybe some movies or theater. Posted by Sarah Lutman at 08:46 PM

I've been loving the tunes all weekend and can't wait until the 50 on Monday. I'll be grading papers and reviewing my geography at the same time.
