June is bursting out
June 01, 2005

Today marks the start of a three-day marathon at The Current. First, today we have our big inter-divisional planning meeting to talk about programming plans for the year and see how we can all work together to meet our goals for programming, audience growth, and revenue. I'm really looking forward to it. We're going to meet after Thorn gets off the air so he can participate.

We also have seven bands coming in over the next three days, plus a couple of interviews. And, tomorrow night we are having a donor event for 89.3 which has been put together by our Development department. Then on Friday we have an events and concerts planning meeting while trying to juggle the busiest-ever studio day. The street team will be out and about this week, too.

I hope you are able to catch some of the in-studio performances when they hit the airwaves, or check them out on our web site.

Ms Sarah, speaking of donors...what is The Current doing for fabulous thank-you gifts? I notice that the ramp-up is happening for the June fund drive, but I see nothing from the KCMP side of things (no, I take that back. I see Morning Show bits, but that sort of gets subsumed in the greater MPR halo-effect.)

Hi Drew. Well, nothing's final yet, but we are working on some interesting thank you gifts that are in keeping with our mission. Give me a few days, and all shall be revealed!

I caught only a few minutes of the wonderful Devotchka session in-studio. Will it be posted to the web soon?
