« Measuring the Muse | Mercury Rev » Planning meeting tomorrowMay 09, 2005 Over the week-end and during the day today I spent time putting together my thoughts for a planning meeting that Steve, Thorn, and I have scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. After Thorn gets off the air, we're going to hole up for a couple of hours and talk. We have been pretty much inundated with opportunities for events and partnerships, and we need to talk about them. Also, we are making some plans for new things on the air. And of course we need to talk about music. We have also started to think about what we'll need to do move our entire music library into the new space (in our building expansion). It's going to be a sort of jig saw puzzle to figure out how and in what order things need to be moved, since we need to stay on the air (on the classical service and 89.3) during the entire process. During the past several days our contractors started putting the glass on the new building's exterior. It's really starting to look like something. Posted by Sarah Lutman at 05:26 PM

It takes up a fairly large room. Tell you what, I'll see if I can take a digital picture for you and post it. Most of the classical vinyl we own is duplicated on CD (but not all). However, the other-than-classical vinyl is largely uncuplicated. So, The Morning Show and The Current use a lot of vinyl - I'd say they play some most days. The classical service rarely uses vinyl. Now, let me see about the picture.... Posted by: Sarah Lutman at May 10, 2005 10:59 AMI believe I have a solution. The collection can be moved over to my house during the move. Every day, I'll deliver the classical and 89.3 music that you will need (or at least that I think you will need), and I'll just keep the rest carefully sitting in our den. Or playing in our den. And when you are done moving to the new building, I'll be happy to make a copy of all of the music for you. I'm sure it'll take some time, but that is exactly the sort of service and support that I am happy to provide to MPR. Posted by: Drew J at May 10, 2005 11:48 AM

How much space does the Music Library actually take up? How much of it consists of older tape and vinyl media?
