« Arts policy conversation | Local show this week » Bands, bands, bandsMarch 30, 2005 Today (Wednesday) a few of us had an early meeting between KCMP and our super-energetic Operations Department. "Ops," as we call them, are the engineers who make everything at MPR possible. They've already supported dozens of KCMP's in-studio performances, and there's a lot more to come. We needed a sort of summit meeting because the touring season has arrived and bands are starting to come through town at a faster pace than they did during the winter. We have days coming up later in the spring with three bands in a single day, for example. So we all needed to talk about how this can work without creating havoc for everyone, not only in Ops, but all the folks who need our studios to make other programs. Meanwhile, Mark Wheat is drinking lots of tea and hoping to be back on air tomorrow. Jill stopped by on her way to the Bloc Party concert, and it was great to see her in the daylight since she's now our night owl. In case you're interested, we've also started posting some summer internships at MPR on the "jobs" section of our web site.
