« The web calendar and web news | New faces around the shop » THANK YOUMarch 07, 2005 Thank you for your overwhelming response to the fund drive that ended last Friday. We not only reached but exceeded our goal of 15,000 members for our three services (News, Classical, and The Current) - at this moment it's 15,914 and still counting. If you were one of those who contributed, we are deeply appreciative. The fact that you called to support the new station after we've been on the air for only one month is fantastic. It tells us how much music matters to you and to this community, how important local music is, and also that you are willing to help support our little newborn and help it succeed. Today we are cleaning up and things are returning to something closer to normal. Because of the outpouring of support, everyone is happy and excited. A little later today we're having a "topping off" celebration for our new building. The last beam will be put into place, and we're sharing some caloric treats to celebrate this important step in the building construction and the wonderful results of the drive. Thanks so much for everything you've done to support the new 89.3. Posted by Sarah Lutman at 11:14 AM

Don't mean to dominate the comments today, but check this article out--The Current made Morford's list! If you haven't read him, you should. http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/gate/archive/2005/03/09/notes030905.DTL&nl=fix Posted by: Mary at March 9, 2005 02:31 PMI'm also curious about the numbers on Current-oriented MPR members... eagerly awaiting word from our friends in St. Paul? Posted by: Julie at March 10, 2005 01:31 PMOh yeah, Mark Morford--someone who rails about evil capitalist corporate AmeriKKKa while taking a paycheck from the Hearst Corporation. I have one word for him--hypocrite. Posted by: Mark Jeffries at March 14, 2005 01:58 PM

If a person became an 89.3 Founding Member previous to the pledge drive, were they included in the 15K+ number? Or was that number only the people who became members during the recently concluded drive?
I am curious how many people have joined or become Founding Members of 89.3 (perhaps that's the same thing) previous to the spring fund drive.
Also, is there any breakout of this drive's new member station preference(s)? Wondering what kind of impact 89.3 had on the "turnout."
