Fund drive day five
February 28, 2005

We were here all week-end working on various projects, including the fund drive. So far we've heard from more than 900 new members and we are hoping to hear from at least 2,500 new members (out of the 15,000 total members). If you are enjoying the new 89.3 and want to help us grow and develop, now would be a good time to call us at 1-800-227-2811 or click and join.

Founding Members of 89.3 will be treated to a wonderful thank-you gift to commemorate our launch. It's a limited pressing vinyl album with music by interesting new artists. We are working on putting the album together right now. Here's what Steve Nelson has to say about it:

"We play a lot of local music on the station, so it should come as no surprise that our Founding Member Vinyl LP is going to be (as Mary Lucia might say) filthy with it. Today I'm excited to announce our first two artists. Spaghetti Western was the very first local band we had in our studios. They played a song for us that was so new they didn't even have a name for it yet! They've decided to call it "Muggins" and the exclusive 89.3 version will be on the LP. The Owls were also in our studio. On Chris Roberts' local show they played this beautiful song called, "Bury Your Mind." It's also brand new and not available anywhere except our LP. We've got more to come..."

We had a great phone room moment on Saturday when I offered to bring any 89.3 listeners downstairs to look at the studios and meet a few people who were working. Mary was on the air and Mark was listening to music, so they helped me show our volunteers around. There were quite a lot of 89.3 listeners here on Saturday afternoon helping out in the phone room. Thank you for your support! The new 89.3 audience is definitely making its presence felt!
