« The North Country | From the construction zone » Saturday special editionFebruary 12, 2005 It's Saturday afternoon and we're here working on a few things. Before I tell you what's up let me say that we are all THANKFUL for this beautiful sunny warm weather. On my way here I saw a lot of people out running and biking in shorts. (That said, I'm ready for a blizzard before the winter is officially over.) Jolie Holland came to visit us with her band and recorded some songs we'll be putting on the air over the next few days. She is performing tonight at the 400 Bar in case you're reading this on Saturday. Her band has been on the road since last April. Her music is haunting and distinctive and I think you'll like what she just recorded for 89.3. Earlier in the afternoon I wandered over to the music library to see if anyone was there who had anything resembling snack food. I found Mark Wheat deep in the stacks putting together love songs for Monday night's show. Be sure to join him from 7:00 PM - Midnight. The playlist looks wide-ranging and inventive, thanks to your requests (we received more than 400). Everyone on staff is searching the nooks and crannies of record stores, the library, and our personal collections to try to find some of the songs. There will surely be some vinyl in the mix. Steve and I also took the time to go through the most recent resumes and audio samples that have come in from folks. We are still in hiring mode so check out the positions available on the MPR jobs web site. And, have a great week-end. Posted by Sarah Lutman at 05:03 PM

Hopefully the playlist for Mark's show will be available for longer than just 6 hours, for those of us who can't stay up that late.
Also, 12 hours would be better for the playlist, to accommodate the night factor - there've been things I've heard on Mark's show at 9 pm, missed what they were, and not had the opportunity to boot up ye olde computer within the 6 hour window...
