This Valentine's Day, say it with Milos

Yesterday, classical music host Jeff Esworthy asked me, "Did you know Milos Karadaglic's record label is now promoting him as a hunk?"

Classical guitarist Milos — he's been operating more frequently under the single moniker, à la Brazilian footballers or Sting — released an album of Latin-tinged music last autumn. There's obviously a romantic (small R) thread to a lot of that music, and that extends quite naturally into Valentine's Day.

Which may have led to the website that Jeff Esworthy went on to describe to me. This new site allows users to create personalized Valentine's Day cards that incorporate Milos into the design.

The site lets you choose some background and foreground elements, and you can scale the elements to some extent. At bottom, you can customize a message for your special someone. As you design, a soundtrack of Milos's music helps provide the right frame of mind.

In the interest of this blog, I attempted a few quick layouts. In this first example, I tried to use some forced perspective (within the limits of the site) to make it seem as if Milos were playing an intimate gig in a restaurant with a fireplace. It didn't work too well:

I had better luck when I attempted to make it appear as if Milos were playing guitar on a hillside overlooking a city. The cupid element is one of the embellishment options.

Although the site does provide some preset background images for you, another option is to upload one of your own. Looking to create something uniquely Minnesotan, I uploaded a photo I took at the recent Loppet dogsled race. I thought it might be fun to place Milos on one of the dogs, as if he is serenading as he goes past. That didn't work too well, either:

But if you've procrastinated this Valentine's Day, there's still time to send your sweetie an e-greeting. And maybe Milos can help.
