Item: Osmo Vänskä conducts the LA Philharmonic March 23-25; his his first appearance at Disney Concert Hall.
Item: Disney Hall figures briefly in the movie thriller "Fracture," which includes this scene featuring a singer who is a regular visitor to Minnesota Opera, the mezzo-soprano Vivica Genaux.
Item: Later in the movie we see the star of the picture, Anthony Hopkins, who radiates some of the same creepy reserve in "Fracture" as he did as Hannibal Lecter in "Silence of the Lambs." But in real life, Hopkins is a more gentle and sentimental sort. Last Saturday on NPR's Weekend Edition, Hopkins told Scott Simon about his latest project: a CD of music composed by Hopkins and performed by full symphony orchestra. It's a best-seller in England.
