Nice of Audra McDonald to take a night off from her Broadway run of Porgy and Bess to visit The Colbert Report and sing "Summertime" in duet with Stephen Colbert. But first she has to explain to Stephen that Gershwin's iconic opera is actually NOT about Colbert:
| The Colbert Report | Mon - Thurs 11:30pm / 10:30c | |||
| Audra McDonald | ||||
| ||||
And now that you've watched the conversation, you can fully appreciate Audra's hilariously non-PC gag in the duet:
| The Colbert Report | Mon - Thurs 11:30pm / 10:30c | |||
| Audra McDonald - "Summertime" | ||||
| ||||
And lest we forget, Colbert has sung Sondheim with the New York Philharmonic, and even sung opera in Italy, as the omniscient Alex Ross points out.
