"Tiny Desk Concerts" is the name that folks at NPR in Washington, DC, have given to a new online feature of theirs. Musicians come into their offices and perform, right by people's desks. The performances are videotaped and then shared with the world.
The latest one comes from a classical performer, violinist Charlie Siem. Read more about him and listen to his concert--including something by the "almost forgotten" Ole Bull --here.

Credit the late Thomas Hoving for the line. As director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, it was part of his job, he said, to breathe life into antiquities, to make the mummies dance. A Polish pianist developed a similar sense of mission when her keyboard interests turned decidedly old-school.
