Classical Games

Anne Midgette has an interesting column on a new trend: the orchestra concert devoted to video-game music.

As Midgette notes, "It's striking that video games, the ultimate pop medium, continue to rely on orchestral sound" -- as opposed to the hip-hop or rock that you might expect. She doesn't offer any theories why this is so, and as someone with little exposure (OK, no exposure) to the world of gaming, I can only guess. Something to do with Hollywood? Comments or explanations, anybody?
