Classical Notes

So a Tenor, a Baritone, and a Bass Walk Into a Bar

Posted at 5:21 PM on May 13, 2009 by Rex Levang (1 Comments)

There's been a lot of talk lately about bringing classical music to non-traditional venues. Here's one such event that just took place in Missoula, Montana, combining opera and Pabst Blue Ribbon.

We're in the middle of a member drive right now--a big vote of thanks to all our contributors!

Hey there, thanks for the acknowledgment of Opera on Draft....We're a new company in an area that has never had a professional opera company before, and in planning for our first summer opera festival (this July and August) we realized that if we counted on the existing local opera fans to fill our seats...Well, we'd possibly be playing to fairly empty houses! Hence these efforts to get out and perform in local bars, restaurants, house-parties, and elsewhere, to familiarize people in a direct and comfortable way with opera.

Anyway, IJWTS that if anyone from our sister state of Minnesota (from whence it seems half our local population originates!) feels like coming out for our summer festival, I will personally buy ya a Peeber or six!
