Meet the Jarvis

I'm always looking for stories that "humanize" famous musicians, that remind me that they, too, have the joys and hassles of everyday life with which to contend.

A profile of conductor Neeme Järvi does just that, though as his son Kristjan makes clear, his hassles were not always so mundane:

It took enormous courage when my father, at the age of 40, took the decision to give up everything and leave... And to [my parents'] enormous credit, when we were leaving they kept everything incredibly normal and uncomplicated. I didn't really know what was going on, because I was so completely taken care of.
