It struck me the other day what a deep resource for classical music YouTube has become.

Want to check up on your favorite performer? Check YouTube. Somebody asks you to name that tune? Find it on YouTube, and email it to them for confirmation. Want to listen to musicians who never appeared on film or video? Chances are they're on YouTube anyhow. Someone has probably posted the audio, either with a still photograph, or maybe a slide show.

Here's an appreciation from commentator Norman Lebrecht, in which, in true Internet fashion, he manages to go from Jacques Brel, to Shostakovich, to The Barber of Seville. . . .
