I saw in the news today that the U.S. Senate will spend this week debating how best to address climate change, and that reminded me of this tidbit from last week's music news.
La Scala, the legendary opera house in Milan, has commissioned Italian composer Giorgio Battistelli to write an opera based on Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth.
In answer to your question (and mine), a spokesperson for La Scala "gave no hint as to how the 53-year-old maestro was expected to make an opera from the subject matter he has been allocated."
