Should we have known such a big flood was possible in Duluth? We heard something interesting from Donna Giersdorf-Thompson in our Public Insight Network:
One thing that is being missed in most of the coverage is that the ground was pretty well saturated before it started raining on Monday/Tuesday. We have had a lot of rain in the last month, including an overnight soaking on Sunday night that left standing water in many places - it is worse than the 10 inch 24 hour total suggests.
Giersdorf-Thompson say her Riverside neighborhood came through the flood ok, but she's worried about taking an economic hit.
"The challenge we will face is loss of income because our lawn care business will be out of commission for awhile," she said.
