MINNEAPOLIS - You thought this was going to be the Twins last season in the Metrodome. Think again. Early this morning the Twins announced they would begin play at Target Field in just five days.
"Target Field is baseball ready today!" Twins president Dave St. Peter exclaimed. "It's done enough to be up to code and ready to play ball next Monday."
St. Peter explained the "finishing touches" would be completed during the team's road trips in April and May.
"A few fans high in the upper deck may be asked to stand for the first homestand or two because all of the seats haven't been installed, but it's a small price to pay for outdoor baseball," St. Peter continued.
St. Peter seemed unconcerned about the logistics problems created by this unexpected announcement. For instance, advanced tickets were sold based on the Metrodome's seating chart.
"We're so excited about finally getting a new stadium we're not going to let a few little details buzzkill our good time," St. Peter added.
The Metrodome meanwhile, will be opened for 4 hours prior to game time during April for fans wanting to pay their final respects.
"Fans, please don't remove the seats", St. Peter cautioned. "The Vikings will be needing them for a looooong time to come."
I keep hearing the same thing!!!
