It seems ludicrous considering that it's only July 1, but I have a feeling tonight and tomorrow's game might determine the outcome of the season.
For the first two months, the Tigers were putrid. Now they're looking like we thought they'd be before the season - downright scary.
Since June 6th the Tigers have gone 18-4 and now sit just 2½ games back of the Twins and 5 behind the White Sox and they still aren't firing on all cylinders.
Something tells me that if the Twins don't take the next two, they'll be looking up at the Tigers in the standings for the rest of the season and their only hope for the post-season will be as a wild card team.
Some Parting Shots
Kyle Lohse is 10-2 with an ERA of 3.67 and appears to have a better shot at the N.L. Cy Young Award than Johan Santana.
Also, although he's played in only 41 games and has a mere 152 at-bats, Alexi Casilla's 30 RBIs leaves him just four behind Joe Mauer two ahead of Delmon Young. If he stays at anywhere near the pace he's on he'll finish second to Morneau in that category.
Monday's early exit marked the 39th time Ron Gardenhire has been ejected from a game leaving the Twins skipper now less than 100 behind record-holder Bobby Cox.
