It's good to be home breathing the fresh, sophisticated air of Minnesota, but the trip was great. The Twins showed the mental toughness and dogged determination that has been their calling card during the Gardenhire years, but has been absent far too often recently, in grinding out 9-5, 12 inning win on Saturday.
Brian and I cheered for our squad loud and proud and got pelted by dozens of ice cubes and peanuts from that always classy Wisconsin crowd. I never, ever, ever again want anyone from Cheeseland to tell me they have better fans over there. We turned Miller Park into Metrodome East for the 8th straight year.
Really though, all of the controversy just added to the excitement of a classic baseball game. The Twins trailed throughout, took the lead late, Joe Nathan blew a rare save (giving my dad even more anecdotal evidence that he's overrated), Prince Fielder narrowly missed hitting a walk-off homer in the 10th (sorry guys, the ball has to go OVER the yellow line to be a homerun, just like common sense and this Twins fan said) before the Twins finally blew the game open with a 5-run 12th.
Here are few pics snapped by yours truly:
Cool pics! From looking at them, I think you were sitting in the same section we were on Saturday night...section 238 I believe. Great game! I had a feeling Nathan was going to give up that home run. Weird, huh?
