It's time to load up the car, procure a loan to fill it up with gas and take advantage of our nation's interstate highway system. That can only mean one thing for the Zingler family: the Twins are playing the Brewers in Milwaukee. Hurray for Interleague play!
My brother Brian and I were born in Milwaukee, but our family was relocated to the
Twins Cities area in 1985. I was 10, he was 7 back then and we have long since made the conversion to the Twins side. And, we are quite glad we did. Besides, the Brewers used to be an American League team with cool uniforms that played in a real baseball stadium. Now the Brew Crew resides in the NL, has a corporate logo and plays in a spaceship-like contraption with green lighting that they call a "Park".
My dad Jack on the other hand, strictly maintains his Wisconsin loyalties. If you ever meet him, just tell him you're from Wisconsin and he'll probably buy you a beer. You better have your story straight though.
Like I've said before, it's always more fun to root for your team on the road, even if they have spent the better part of the last two weeks getting their brains beat in. So we'll be in Diamond Box 226, my dad wearing a Brewers hat and my brother and I sporting our game-worn Twins jerseys (Corky Miller for me, Ruben Sierra for Brian). We'll all probably have a Miller Lite in hand too; we were born in Wisconsin after all.
Anyone else out there making the trip?
