The Tigers are Playing Like it's 2003
Posted at 9:03 PM on April 8, 2008 by David Zingler
With their 5-0 loss at Boston today, the Detroit Tigers are 0-7. Yikes. This team was supposed to be the class of the AL Central and, in many eyes, the favorite in the American League.
So far, the Motor City Kitties high-water mark has been their 5-4 opening day defeat at the hands of the Royals. Since then they've been outscored 39-11. Nobody thinks the Tigers are on their way to duplicating their 119-loss 2003 season, but with their $95 million pay roll, star-studded roster and high expectations, could 2007 be even more disappointing?
This team will rebound, but not enough. I've never been one to shy away from making predictions (yes, I'll never learn), but I say the Tigers finish about 85-77 and out of the playoffs.
