Hello, offense

After watching the Twins' 12-run explosion last night, it had me wondering when the last time the team had such productive game at the plate. Naturally, it's off to Baseball Reference for the answer and a few happy coincidences.
The last time the Twins notched a dozen runs was also against the White Sox — and twice in the same day, no less! — during a doubleheader last year on July 6th.
The Twins won the slugfest of a day game 20-14, behind a Jason Kubel grand slam (sound familiar?) and Joe Mauer's 5 RBIs.
They came back that night to rout the Sox 12-0 thanks in large part to Justin Morneau's 7-RBI, 3-homer night.
Last night, the Twins also had two 5-run innings. The last time they put up a 5-spot or better was Sep. 7th last year against... the White Sox. The Twins scored six in the top of the ninth only to be matched run-for-run by the bottom in the bottom half. A.J. Pierzynski knocked in the winning run for the Sox off Juan Rincon in the 13th. Final score, 11-10.
Bonus: all of these games took place at Comiskey Park.
