Anyone catch the All-Star Game last night? I dipped in and out, and was fortunate to catch some of the more memorable moments, like Ichiro's inside-the-park home run. It wasn't quite as iconic a moment as Pete Rose running over Ray Fosse, but it's a highlight that we'll be seeing for a while.
I generally think all the hoopla surrounding the event is a bit much, but baseball's "midsummer classic" remains the best of any the major sports league's self-promoting events. There's something about seeing all the different uniforms on the field that's still pretty cool. It's not the same as when I was a kid, but it's the only all-star event I even think about watching.
One person who apparently didn't have a very good time is Albert Pujols, who was left on the bench by Tony LaRussa (for reasons only Tony LaRussa knows) and was not happy about it. Check out Deadspin for their take on LaRussa's decision.
Well, at least we know the Twins will have home-field advantage for the World Series.
