Sports Illustrated's Baseball Chatter blog says Twins reliever Joe Nathan is one of the game's premier closers.
I've been thinking a lot about the Twins bullpen in recent weeks. Especially since my 86 year old grandmother (a diehard Phillies fan) has been complaining to me about how many games the Phils have blown in recent weeks. Tom "Flash" Gordon has been serving up more meatballs than Cosettas (ba da bing!). He blew three saves in the first month of play. It's gotten so bad that the Phils moved one of their starters to the bullpen.
That makes me thankful for the Twins. The bullpen isn't as lights out as it was last year but they are still reliable. But that leads me to this:
Is Joe Nathan worth the salary he will demand once his contract is up in 2008 or will the Twins move Rincon, Neshak or someone else into that spot?
