I am back from Milwaukee off another successful road trip. The Twins won, I drank my body weight in Miller Lite and we again helped make Miller Park “Metrodome East.”
Here are some notes on the night:
The first sign of trouble for the Brewers on Saturday was their starting pitcher. He is right-handed, had a 5.47 ERA entering the game and is named Bush.
My Corky Miller GWJ, which is 0-3 at the Dome, continued it’s magic in Milwaukee and is now 2-0 at Miller Park.
While Scott Baker and the coaching staff may attribute his successful start to keeping the ball down, I think it was purely Corky karma. I guess there’s no way to know for sure.
In case you were wondering (and I’m sure you weren’t), Brian’s Ruben Sierra GWJ drew some notice from fellow fans and my dad forgot his Brewers hat.
The Miller Park roof started the game half opened, but quickly closed. Even when it is opened, you really don’t feel outside. Glad I’m not paying for that place.
In the bottom of the 9th, with what seemed like a majority of the remaining fans on their feet cheering on Joe Nathan, I yell out “Am I still in Minneapolis?” A suburban mom-type who was still seated shoots me an evil glance. I love being on the road.
On a high of victory and beer, Brian and I exit the stadium exchanging high fives with fellow Twins fans and not-so-weary travelers. They weren’t hard to find.
Bye Milwaukee, see you next year....
