I'm optimistic about a new ballpark even though it seems anyone's guess at this time whether it will materialize. I can't see it crumbling after all the hoopla it took to get this far because of land acquisition. Maybe its a bargaining technique from the county designed to remind us fans that the Twins are a business first and foremost from the upper echelons (contraction anyone?) and that leaving the state is always a viable and powerful option. It would be refreshing to see a private corporation that stands to benefit greatly from a new Twins ballpark step up and offer to fund the difference between what the county says they can "afford" to pay and what the landowners are entitled to as investors.
