Honus card sells for $2.35 million
An anonymous collector paid a record-setting price ($2.35m) for the "Mona Lisa" of baseball memorabilia, the 1909 Honus Wagner tobacco card in near mint condition. This particular card was purchased for $1.265 million in 2000, and is one of the few (possibly only) baseball cards that has to be bought by a group with various minority stakeholders... it was once even owned the The Great One himself, Wayne Gretzky.
