Liriano opts for surgery

Liriano elects surgery, may miss '07
Well, after getting his 4th opinion on his elbow, Liriano chooses the surgery. And not just any surgery: the Tommy John. I'm not quite sure why they say that he "may" miss the 2007 season, because I don't know that he would, or could, or should try to make it in time for the next season. Are the Twins now doomed for eternity?
