We all know the All Star Game (the one that counts!) took place Tuesday night. I think the AL won, they do every year. Since Wednesday was the slowest American sports day of the year, a couple of lesser known leagues decided it would be a good time to run out their brightest stars.
First off are the Triple Aers, who played their All Star Game in picturesque Toledo, OH. Led by game MVP Kevin Witt of the Durham Bulls, the International League downed the Pacific Coast League 6-0. The 30-year-old first baseman homered and doubled. Twins farmhands Josh Rabe and J.D. “the Real Deal” Durbin suited up for the International League squad.
Not to be outdone, the WNBA hosted their version of the “mid summer night’s classic” in Madison Square Garden. The East squad, led by Connecticut’s Katie Douglas, the game’s MVP, routed the West 98-82. It was the Eastern Conference’s first win in 8 tries. Gopher legend Linsdsay Whalen participated and tallied 10 points and 6 assists for the winners. Seimone Augustus meanwhile, represented Lynx and led the West with 16 points on 7 of 11 shooting.
