I'm sure you've all already heard that A.J. Pierzynski beat out Francisco Liriano for the final spot on the American League All Star team. A South Sider over a Twin, yuck. And if that weren't bad enought, Pierzynski's addition to the squad likely means less playing time for Joe Mauer....
There's good news in this. As nice as it would have been for the MLB ERA leader (that is, on the 3 days per week he qualifies) to be an all star, now he gets to pitch the first day after the brake instead of the fourth. I'd rather have him pitch in games that matter.
You're also probably saving a tiny little bonus in most player's contracts that get activated if they get named an All-Star... and making the Chi Sox spend just that little bit more. OK, enough with the silver linings...
