It came as a surprise no one when the Seattle Mariners re-assigned back-up catcher Corky Miller to their minor league camp on Wednesday. Thus, Miller will begin the season at Triple A Tacoma. I'm sure however, the move left some geeky blogger in the Seattle area severely disappointed.
Actually, Corky Miller had a great spring training for Seattle and it DID come as a surprise for some that they decided to hold onto a 22 year guy as their backup who has little major league experience and had a tough spring. Many people actually felt that Corky had earned a spot on the roster as a backup.
Really! I guess that makes up for last year when he had no business making the Opening Day Roster. Thanks for the update.
Actually, he had a great spring. He got screwed. I wish some people would stop being negative about him.
I agree JJ. He did have a great spring and he did get screwed. Then the Mariners went out and got ANOTHER catcher and sent the 22 year old backup also down to AAA and they are both sitting the bench right now. Doesn't make sense to me after the spring he had. I wish he was back in Rochester if he has to be in AAA. We liked him a lot here!
I know this is late but i just found the site. i know corky from his year in billings montana and he was a good catcher than and is a good catcher now. the reason he went down was probally because of his hitting. not his best subject. i personally think the mariners are stupid but thats just me.
