One of the original Soul Patrol outfielders, Matt Lawton, has been suspended 10 days at the start of next season for a positive steroids test. Matt now finds himself in a bit of a pickle, as he is no longer with the Yankees, and is a free agent whose name is now tainted and will miss games at the beginning of the season. I'm guessing since he's a two-time All Star he'll find a job somewhere, but you never know how some organizations might see it. (If you were the Twins, would you take him back?) He apparently got tested after he was acquired by the Yankees, but given his quick stops at Pittsburgh and Chicago, you have wonder whether people have known about it for a while. Did Steinbrenner know when he got him?
On a side note, today is Matt Lawton's birthday. Happy birthday, Matt!

I think I would. The suspension should make his market value pretty low, and while he hasn't been as good since he left the Twins, he hasn't been awful. Assuming Jacque Jones doesn't come back and that Jason Kubel isn't ready, the Twins will need a right fielder. Lawton obviously won't be a superstar, but he wouldn't be the worst choice they could make, either.
