Super pitching prospect Francisco Liriano and utility outfielder Jason Tyner have been promoted from the minors to bolster the Twins push for the playoffs.
Liriano has been the best pitcher in Triple-A since his promotion from Double-A New Britain. He has started 14 games, won nine of them, and has posted a 1.78 ERA. He has struck out 112 batters in 91 innings of work, and was recently named International League Rookie of the Year.
The 21-year old lefty started the season in New Britain, and wasn't quite as dominant as he has been in Triple-A. He did strike out 92 batters in 76.2 innings, giving him a combined mark of 204, the highest total in the entire Minor Leagues.
Tyner has been the most consistent bat in the Red Wings' lineup this season, and was more than deserving of the promotion. In 133 games, he has batted .286, and has 18 stolen bases. He also leads the team with 150 hits, and 80 runs.
