On a night when one aging pitcher gave the Twins yet another chance to make themselves look bad, another one racked up his 3,000th strikeout. Greg "We Like You Now That You're Not in Atlanta" Maddux caught the Giants' Omar Vizquel looking to notch his milestone 'K' and become the 13th member of the 3K-K club. The other active members are Roger "We Still Don't Like You" Clemens and Randy "Wasn't He Having a Bad Year?" Johnson.
In other personal milestone news, Sammy "Remember Me?" Sosa tied Frank Robinson for fifth place on the career homers list, hitting his 586th off of Kenny "Penitent" Rogers. You can add whatever asterisks you like to that particular stat.

Sammy Sosa is to Frank Robinson what Dan Quayle was to Jack Kennedy............
maddux gets no credit...what do you mean...you ask? you can get his rookie card for less then a buck. while the sosa card is getting a hefty price...even many years after the juiced HR race with the Mac. that's what.
