I woke up on Sunday morning, picked up a copy of the Star Tribune off my front porch and read the headline “Twins, Hennepin have stadium deal.” I did a double take. Is this a cruel joke? Did someone replace my “Strib” with The Onion? When I turned to the sports section, I expected to see that Corky Miller was leading the American League in hitting and that the Twins had traded Nick Punto to the Yankees for A-Rod.
Doesn’t the fact that this agreement came out of nowhere and seems so simple scare anyone but me? Maybe I am too cynical, but after over a decade filled with doomed proposals, failed bills and political grandstanding, I am more than a little skeptical. For now I am going to hold my breath and keep my fingers crossed until the ground breaking ceremony – I’ll be there front and center – seeing is believing.

I love the new MPR blog! The postings are both informative and entertaining. I especially enjoy the postings by Dave Zingler, and I’d like to see more like his Corky Miller piece. I had no idea who Miller was before reading Zingler's piece. Our team has a lot of new faces this year and I’d like to “Get to Know ‘Em” once again. Keep up the good work!
