Gov. Pawlenty
Gov. Tim Pawlenty says a state economic update scheduled for release tomorrow will be an improvement over the $1 billion shortfall that was predicted in February.
State Sen. Dan Larson, DFL-Bloomington, says he plans to give up his District 63 seat two years early to take a job with a Minneapolis law firm.
Foster care
Beginning July 8, state public defenders outside of Hennepin County will no longer represent parents in child protection cases, or in specialty courts such as drug court, because of budget cuts. Children will wait longer in foster care.
