Some Minnesota senators want to expel Nicole Mitchell for burglary charges; Anoka-Hennepin school board dispute settled
Minnesota senators failed to advance a motion to eventually expel the DFL lawmaker charged with a felony over an alleged burglary this week. The senator charged, Nicole Mitchell of Woodbury, did not appear at the Capitol today.
And school board members governing Minnesota’s largest district have reached an agreement to avoid disrupting the annual budget process. Three out of six Anoka Hennepin school board members had said they could not vote in favor of a budget that funded things like culturally responsive teaching and equity initiatives.

UnitedHealth Group cyber attack; U of M student arrests
UnitedHealth Group says the cyberattack on its Change Healthcare subsidiary earlier this year may have exposed personal information from “a substantial portion of people in America.” The Minnetonka-based company says it hasn't seen signs that medical charts or histories were released in the data breach, but it says it may take months of additional work to determine the extent of the breach and notify everyone affected.
And about thirty students set up tents in a protest for Gaza. They want the university to divest from weapons manufacturers and businesses that engage with the Israeli military.

Woodbury man shot after armed standoff. Robbinsdale shelter-in-place alert goes countywide
Law enforcement shot a man in a Woodbury Target parking lot Monday after an armed standoff. Police responded to a vehicle with stolen license plates and found the vehicle and the suspect — a 50-year-old man. And authorities issued a shelter-in-place alert last night for a small part of Robbinsdale — but it was inadvertently sent to all of Hennepin County. Robbinsdale police say the alert stemmed from reports of a possible domestic situation involving weapons.

Satisfactory
Proper news in under 5 minutes, two times a day M-F.
“Sure” “ya”
The young reporters start every answer to a question with “Sure” and “Ya”. Very annoying and distracting. They all need to work on this to sound professional.
Needs lots of work
Repeats far too many stories. This is not the radio; we subscribe and listen to every episode. Weather is a waste of time, too, since it tries to cover the entire state, making it generic to the point of useless. Sports are also not useful news; leave that kind of garbage to the people who also “report” lottery numbers and horoscopes.
Update: Now they’re including episodes of another podcast in this feed, meaning you either are getting even *more* repeats if you like that podcast, too, or unwanted stories here if you don’t. MPR needs to hire someone who understands what podcasts are, and I’m very close to unsubscribing completely.
Last Update: Finally unsubscribed after they wasted my time with a “viral prom-posal” story. I’m looking for news, not increasingly encroaching vapid social media content.
