Minnesota Public Radio to Present On-Stage Performances and Broadcasts Throughout the 2011 Minnesota State Fair

Friday, Sept. 2 is MPR Day at the Fair

(St. Paul, Minn.)--August 16, 2011--Minnesota Public Radio will sponsor live broadcasts and on-stage events every day of this year's Minnesota State Fair, Aug. 25-Sept. 5, 2011. Hosts from MPR News, The Current and Classical MPR will be on hand to present political leaders and local music stars, all while getting a chance to mix with fair goers.

Friday, Sept. 2 is MPR Day at the State Fair. Join MPR as it takes over Carousel Park to host performances by Current faves 4onthefloor, Classical MPR faves VocalEssence, as well as the traditional live broadcast of MPR News' Midday with Gary Eichten--with guests Chris Farrell and Professor Louis Johnston to talk about the economy, and A Prairie Home Companion's Garrison Keillor.

Later that evening, A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand will round out the day.

MPR Broadcast Booth:

All broadcasts and performances will be held at the Minnesota Public Radio booth, at the corner of Judson and Nelson, unless otherwise noted.

* MPR News can be heard on stations statewide, including KNOW 91.1 FM in the Twin Cities
* The Current can be heard on KCMP 89.3 FM in the Twin Cities and KMSE 88.7 FM in Rochester
* Classical MPR can be heard on stations statewide, including KSJN 99.5 FM in the Twin Cities
