Rupa Shenoy is a general assignment reporter for MPR News. An Iowa native, Shenoy joined MPR in August 2009. She came most recently from the Associated Press' Chicago bureau, where she covered the arrest of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, among other major events. She worked for three years at the Daily Herald, the third-largest Illinois newspaper. Before that she was an investigative reporter at the monthly magazine The Chicago Reporter, where she was awarded the Society of Professional Journalists' Lisagor award. Shenoy has a master's degree from Northwestern University's Medill School, and counts swimming among her favorite hobbies.
