When a fire killed five children in north Minneapolis last month, a lot of people began to wonder if the building managed by Paul Bertelson was safe. Troy Lewis, the father of the five children, said Bertelson failed to respond to his complaints that the heat didn't work in his apartment.
The City Council next week is scheduled to approve the settlement with the families of Haysem Sani, Mohamed Fofana and Devin Meldahl, students at Peter Hobart Elementary School in St. Louis Park.
In a statement Wednesday morning, police say they found a 9mm handgun in a sock with Terrance Franklin's DNA hidden in a home in northeast Minneapolis. It was reported stolen in a burglary the day before Franklin was killed.
